The glass

The glass is chosen by the wall it faces

Double or triple sealed unit, Low-E glass, over 90% argon, metal-free Super Spacer. South: high solar gain glass; north: the brightest possible; west: glass that lets light in and keeps heat out. The advisor looks at each room’s orientation during the visit.

  • High-transmission Low-E, designed for the north
  • Triple glazing: insulates almost twice as well, about 9 points less light
  • Grilles hide 6 to 13% of the glass: we tell you beforehand

Frequently asked questions

PVC or hybrid?

PVC insulates well and costs less. Hybrid is the same PVC with aluminum cladding outside: we choose it for a dark colour, a large window or a very exposed wall. It is not thinner than PVC.

When should windows be replaced?

In Québec, a window lasts 15 to 25 years. The signs: drafts, fog between the panes, a sash that sticks, a heating bill that climbs, a rotting frame. If you’re unsure, we come and look.

Can windows be replaced in winter?

Yes, it’s common in Québec: one opening at a time, with the room closed off during installation.

Why is there condensation in winter?

On the inside face, it’s the humidity in the house: aim for 30 to 40% in winter. Between the panes, the sealed unit has lost its seal; we replace the unit, not necessarily the whole window.

We look at every wall with you.
